Senior Girl Wins Local
H.Ec. Award
JoAnn Wagner '61, has been honored by winning the local American Homemaker of Tomorrow award, announced Mrs. Lucille Stiles, chairman of the home economics department.
Along with the selectees from the other 49 states, JoAnn's original examination will be placed in competition to select the State Homemaker award. This student will receive a $1,500 college scholarship and an expense-paid educational tour with a faculty sponsor. The search will end with the selection of an All-American Homemaker and runners-up.
JoAnn, B-210 homeroom, is planning on a home economics career after college. She is particularly interested in the foods area of this field and is thinking in terms of a teaching career or a home economist in a testing kitchen. She has completed Home Economics I, Foods II, and home management courses in the Maine schools. JoAnn carries five solids this year, including chemistry which is a pre-requisite for her foods major. This, however, does not keep her from participating in a variety of co-curricular activities.
