Shaky Matmen Drop Sixth Meet; Host W. Leyden

The tide has turned, it seems, in Warrior wrestling; the West grapplers have dropped their last three contests by lop-sided scores. Two of the encounters were with Interim League opponents.

Prospect's Knights walloped the Westmen, 36-10, followed by the Glenbrook Spartans, who dropped the Warriors, 29-8. Niles followed last week with an even worse shellacking, 45-3. All three of the meetings were on "away" mats.

The early moments of the Niles encounter were heartbreaking, for the West strongmen lost crucial matches by a minimum number of points in the lower weight classes. All Westmen except Bob Jonas, 103 lb. junior, dropped their matches. Jonas rode to his win, 3-0, over
Dilg of the Trojans. Four of the 12 Warriors who went on the mat were pinned by their Niles aggressors. The team was hurt, though, by the failure of some West regulars to make weight.

Senior 165-pounder George Lanegraff was the only West wrestler to come through the Prospect. Glenbrook weekend without a loss. Lanegraff came through with a tight 1-1 tie against Prospect's Field, and held on, 2-1, to take the decision over Barth of Glenbrook.

West's mat record now stands at two wins to five losses. The next meet will be at home against West Leyden, an Interim League three-year school. Spectators should be pleased, because this will be a holiday from school. The varsity and jay-vees will wrestle at 4:30 p.m.
