| Warrior varsity swimmers won one while dropping two dual meets in past weeks, and also grabbed a twelfth position in the Riverside-Brookfield Invitational. West's mermen will swim against West Leyden at 7:30 p.m. this evening. Most Valuable swimmer Ken Fadden gathered the blue-and-gold's only points at the R-B Invitational, as he came through with a second place in the 200-yard individual medley event. Out of about 30 squads in the meet, 15 did not manage to score any points at all; West had five points. At Proviso West the tankers were soundly beaten, 56-30. The only bright spots came when Bob Olson and Adam Berg |
swept the 200-yard free style, and when Bill Alles was victorious in the 200-yard individual medley. It was a different story at Elmwood Park when the Westmen whipped their opponents, 47-39. Adam Berg and Art Behn swept the 200-yard free style, Bruce Johns won the 100-yard backstroke, and Ken Fadden along with Bill Alles held first and second, respectively, in the 100 breaststroke. Ken Fadden and Al Koch swept the 200 individual medley, and the 200 medley relay team of Bruce Johns, Bill Alles, Phil Wankat, and Bob Olson was victorious. Interim champs Glenbrook proved to be too rugged for the varsity as the Spartans won, 51-35 |
