Clubbing Around

Clubs Offer Fun, Challenge

"Currently, the Modern Dance club is working on an act for the spring V-show," explained Mrs. Bonnie Edson, formerly Miss Wahlheim, sponsor. "The idea of modern dance is to interpret expression and emotion through dance movements," she continued.

Any girl may join this club, as no dancing experience is necessary. Meetings are held every Thursday and Friday after school in B-wing gym.

Tri-M

Chapter 458 of the Modern Music Masters has 21 active members. Ten of them recently attended a dress rehearsal and performance of Carmen, and eight others saw Madame Butterfly at the Chicago Lyric opera.

Tri-M fosters greater interest in band, orchestral, and choral performances, creates a sincere desire to study, and encourages wider opportunities for musical expression. Since it is an honorary society, Tri.M requires its applicants to have high scholastic averages to become members. This means A's in all music courses, and a B average in all other subjects.
Coin Club

According to president Kenneth Saville '62, the coin club had an outstanding meeting recently when Mr. Wm. Benziner, collector and dealer of rare coins, talked to the club and showed one of the very few 1943 copper pennies that was minted. All others were of the steel and zinc type.

Quill and Scroll

Quill and Scroll, national honorary journalistic society, plans an initiation in the near future. Presently only six members make up the club, since requirements for initiation are very high. Seven new members to be initiated into the club are seniors Pat Bolden, Pamela Carr, Karen David, Carol Dillon, Anaterese Giardini, Dianne Lyon, and David O'Connell. Another initiation is planned for the annual banquet in the spring.

Ed Stedman and Carol Peterson, seniors, are president and secretary, respectively, of the society.
