New League Aids Charity |
||||||||||
| The Community Service league, a new organization sponsored by Mrs. Barbara Melnick, art teacher, came into being when her art class donated Christmas trees which they had made to an old people's home. Many students felt that Maine needed a service club and organized the Community Service league which meets every Tuesday after school in C-204. The purpose of the club is to make projects (from "odds and ends") which can be donated to charity. Mrs. Melnick |
commented that any student is invited to join the League, and have a lot of fun while contributing to worthy causes. Maine is now fourth in the Interim standings, and Wheaton stands in second with a 5-2 record; West is 3-4. In an earlier game between Wheaton's Tigers and West's Warriors, the WCHS quintet squeaked past MW, 53-50. Right now two Wheaton players, Hutchin son (97) and Pfund (93) stand above West's number one scorer, Mike Rowlee, who has 92 points. |
