Mosaic Mural Matches Maine's Modern Mode

Have you by chance noticed the recent addition to the Maine West hallways? A mosaic mural consisting of 15 separate panels is the work of Mr. Rich-ard C. Meyer's sixth and seventh periods art classes. The 19,000-plus pieces of tesserea and glass are held in place on the plywood panels by more than 125 tubes of household cement. After the tesserea were in place, they were covered by 50 pounds of grout which was used as a filler.

The hues of the mural were designed to blend in with the wall coloring, structural design, and basic surroundings of the school itself.

Earl Andresen '61, Carol Artner '62, Gayle Bauman '62, David Dowell '61, Diane Englert '61, Kristine Hatfield '62, Len Karbowski '61, Karen Klopp '61, Sue Kristan '62, Diane Lyon '61, Dorothy Nelson '62, Judy Parchim '61, Jill Peters '62, Roland Prochnow '61, Janet Schults '62, and Curt Snider '61, are the students in the Art III class that created the mosaic that is now hanging above the entrance to the Maine West auditorium.
