||||||||||
| Maine West grapplers won two home meets last week over West Leyden and Glenbard East, in Interim League play, Spectators held their breaths until the Warriors finally drop, ped the Leydenites, 20-19, but saw the West strongmen wallop Glenbard East, 31-11. Against Glenbard East, the West Matmen ran away with nine of the 12 individual bouts, with the lower weight classes leading the way. Two Westmen pinned their agressors, George Lanegraff '61, at 165 pounds, and Jan Anderson '62, at heavyweight. One of West's three lost bouts came when junior 180-pounder Keith Zolla was injured and had to forfeit. |
Tonight the Warrior strongmen take on last year's State champion team, East Leyden. The Eagle meet is on the blueand-gold's home mats, with a 4:30 p.m. starting time. On Tuesday Riverside-Brookfield's Bulldogs journey to West, for another 4:30 meet. The last two wins evened up Coach Richard Carlini's wrestling record this season at 6-6. In Interim meets the matmen have a 3-4 record, with the wins coming at the hands of West Leyden, Willowbrook, and Glenbard East. |
