The summer is over. Another school year has started, but what will this year be? It can be whatever we choose to make it.

Here at Maine West we have everything available to us to make this year our best year. Maine West is a great school. Our building and grounds are in top condition.

Over the summer many improvements and renovations were completed. The indoor track was painted and a new ventilation system was installed, and new doors were put in all around the school. Lights were also installed at the front entrance and on the practice fields.

This year can be a very valuable one in terms of learning. The curriculum at Maine West is large and varied. There are classes available to satisfy most all wants. Try something new; widen your horizons.

Learning does not take place only in the classroom. Through clubs, extracurricular activities, and the meeting of new people much can be learned.

There are many, many things to get involved in at Maine West. Sports are available for boys and girls all year round. New teams are coming into existence. For the first time, this year there is a cross country team for girls. If you like sports, but competition is not right for you, try intramurals.

Speech team, a different kind of sport, is also available at Maine West. It is always fun to join a club. Maine West has many, many different clubs, one to suit almost everyone. If we do not have one you like, suggest one! Service organizations are also available at Maine West. Take your choice: join a club, participate in athletic activities, or join a service organization. It is fun and also rewarding.

Maine West offers us unlimited opportunities. It is up to us to take advantage of what we are offered. It is possible to make this year at Maine West our best year. It is all up to us.
