Pictures

BY JOHN NEBL

Pictures are something that have taken place.
They represent something the way it was.
Pictures are worth more than you may think.
Pictures are like words in a different form.
At the time the picture is taken, time stops.
Until the shutter falls its here, alive.
The picture is happy or sad like a ghost.
The representations are like a living model.
The picture's taken as a preservative,
The memory will linger on the paper.
The object is long gone but still yet here,
In a moment the feeling will return.
The object, alive, speaks in many ways,
Though it's flat, it speaks being one in many.
