Among the band students, the best brass/percussion performance was given by the brass sextet of Brad Briskey '79, Greg Coburn '80, Steve Hines '80, Mary Morgan '80, and Kevin Winterroth '81. They performed a piece entitled "Modern Moods." Russ Scott '80 won in the woodwind division. He played "Fantaisie Mooresque" and was accompanied by Yvonne Pytlik '79. Finally, flutist Melinda Carter '80 performed "Adante from Concerto in D. Minor." This winning player was accompanied by Jill Jackson '81.

After school on May 10 these winners gathered once again to play ‑ this time to determine the best musician in the department. Mark Ilker '80 was the winner, and he will perform his competition piece at the concert tonight.
