Tryouts for the new 1979‑80 cheerleaders were held on Thursday, May 3, following clinics held on the previous Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The new cheerleaders were announced after the tryouts by sponsors Miss Diane DiVito and Mrs. Carol Hagg.

The new members of the Sophomore Squad are Jean Christenson '82, Tina Kleiner '82, Carrie Reda '82, Colleen Serna '82, Jackie Mudd '82, Denise Preiss '82, Pep Hooczka '82, and Irene Panoutsos '82.

The Varsity Squad consists of Patti Schaffer '81, Angel Rogers '81, Joanne Mukai '81, Pam Thompson '81, Nancy Monahan '80, Debbie Rohlicek, '80, Kim Wagner '80, Mary Erbach '80,

Nancy Howard '80, Lisa Kenter '80, Debbie Kowalski '81, Jackie Weaver '81, and alternates Lisa Cacciatore '81, and Molly Sherkey '80.

On Friday, May 4, the girls received corsages to wear around school after being chosen the new cheerleaders. They plan to attend a cheerleading camp in the summer where they will learn new sidelines, floorcheers, and mounts, as well as competing with schools both in and out of state.

The new squad is also having a car wash this summer and some type of fund raiser early next fall to raise money for new jackets and to improve the varsity uniforms. They will also participate in the Fourth of July Parade and enter a competition in March of 1980.
