Every year, around the beginning of April, sophomore girls are selected to be Junior Leaders for the following school year. Being chosen to be a leader and going through the training is not an easy task.
Early in March members from the Leader Board come around to all the girls' sophomore gym classes and gave a presentation on Leaders. Any girl interested was given an application and four evaluation sheets to be filled out. She has two evaluations filled out by two Physical Education teachers, one by a regular teacher, and the last one by her Senior Leader.
The application and evaluations are then turned into the Leader Board. A list of all the girls who have applied is sent out to the P.E. teachers. The teachers go through the list and select the girls they feel would make good leaders. The list then goes back to the Leader Board and a list of all the girls selected is posted.
The Leader Board, or Leader Club, which it is referred to, is made up of four girls who are Senior Leaders and Ms. Karen Kenyon who is the sponsor. This year's officers are Beth Kostick, president; Kathy Fiarito, vice-president; and the two board members are Nancy Freise and Kelly Jones.
The only way a girl can become a member of the Leader Club is to be a Junior or Senior Leader. The Leader Club was formed as a service club to help the teachers, school, and community.
Leaders assist P.E. teachers by taking attendance, giving tests, and helping teach the class. Leaders help assist at meets, host open houses, and assist at any school activities. Outside of school the club helped two families at

Thanksgiving and Christmas by donating food, clothing, and toys to them. The club is able to help needy families through the fund raisers they have every year, such as bake sales, candy sales, and food drives.
When the Leader Club is not raising money or assisting teachers, they hold social events for the members. The club may have four or five breakfasts during the year and usually go to Great America in the spring.
Next year's Junior Leaders are Pat Apa, Angela Ahrens, Christine Aliotta, Lori Amfahr, Celia Arakake, Kathy Beireis, Karen Bohen, Joanna Brunetti, Luise Bachmeier, Joan Clifford, Laura Derken, Iris Dieppa, Kathy Dsida, Heidi Eilken, Jill Elser, Sharon Fafejta, Wendy Finlay, Corky Graczyk, Denise Huntoon, Janet Karr, Maria Kiraly, Tina Koonce, Janet Koren, Debbie Kowalski, Mary Lauten, Judy Linke, Debbie Lowman, Paula Luthardt, Rita Maiss, Lisa Marquette, Kathleen Markko, Jenny Mazurck, Linda Miller, Diane Mirocha, Joanne Mukai, Maggie McGuire, Kendell Okon, Margie O'Keefe, Kathy Packard, Tammy Page, Ann Pawlak, Maria Pena, Debbie Peters, Karen Peterson, Tricia Ray, and Lisa Reese.
