Graduation: Starting All Over Again

Here we all go ‑ we are starting all over again. Does it sound upsetting?

To some it possibly might, but to all of us it should be an exciting time. We are entering a new phase of our life.

We have all heard the saying, graduation is just a beginning. Though it may sound like an old, untrue cliche, it, in actuality, is as true today as the first time it was spoken. We are entering a world that is new to us. We each will face different problems and situations, no matter what we are going to do ‑ attend college, work, enter the armed services, or begin in any other field.

We have many many memories of Maine West and all the fun we have had here. As freshmen, we all came here on the first day somewhat nervous and not quite sure what to expect. There were so many people, and the building was so big. After the first week, all those people were friends, and the building seemed to have "shrunk" in size. As time wore on,

we discovered more and more things that made us more comfortable in the school and more people who became our friends. Each year we learned new things; and as we did, we gathered more and more memories. We will never forget all the good times, good friends, and teachers we have met here in our four years.

We will always have those memories, and we will add to them new ones, just as important and meaningful. As we turn the page, Our Prom was so appropriately entitled, on this phase of our life. We will have these memories. We may, on the first day we undertake our new plans, just as we were on our first day here at Maine West, be somewhat nervous and possibly a little afraid. But as we did here, we will adjust; and things will all seem fine after the first few days. Remember, whatever the memories may be, as we leave Maine West, think positively of what is ahead of all of us.
