School Spirit Is All Our Choice

Here it is! Special sale price‑$1.98! Get it while you can! What are we talking about? Almost anything. But there are some things that can't be bought; these intangibles are usually the most precious.

School spirit falls into that category of the intangible. We will never be able to buy it in a store. But what then is school spirit? It is a feeling, a state of being. It incorporates many ideas. School spirit is a conglomeration of many things. Pride is a major ingredient in school spirit. Respect and admiration are also a part of the "recipe."

At Maine West we certainly have a lot to be proud of. We have one of the best faculties possible, a great building and wonderful grounds, and a great bunch of students. We have all the ingredients to make this a very successful year.

Students at Maine West truly seem to respect all that makes up our school. The building and all the school property and kept in great condition. The custodial staff and the student care has made this possible after many years. A good relationship between students and teachers has created a mutual respect for each other.

We have it all‑everything needed for school spirit. If so, then why doesn't everyone have "it"? The negative, the problems‑all schools have them. They can't be avoided, but they can be dealt with and are being taken care of. They will not disappear, but we must not dwell on them. Think about the positive; speak the positive; tell others what a great school we have. A good feeling is contagious.

It is all here for us. We have the right combination. Homecoming and all its events are just around the corner. Let's let others know, both inside our school and out, how proud we are of Maine West.
