Leaders Prove Active

One of the most active organizations around Maine West is Leader Club. Beth Kostick '79 is president; Kathy Fiarito '79 is vice‑president; the two board members are Nancy Freise '79 and Kelly Jones '79. The sponsor of the club is Mrs. Karen Kenyon.

If you ride your bike to school, you might have seen one of the 150 members of the club handing out bike licenses. The group is an extremely active one. Each year they have a big fund raising project and use the money to help buy a Thanksgiving dinner for a needy family. Again at Christmastime the group helps another family by getting toys, games and clothing, and food for the family.

In the spring Leader Club has one big social event, such as a beach party or for the last two years a trip to Great America.

You are liable to see a member doing almost anything around the school or community. They help at swim and track meets, host for open house, and are mat maids.

If you are wondering how to get into this organization, it's not easy. The membership is closed to junior and senior girls. Junior and Senior Leaders are the members of the Leader Club.
