The Maine West varsity soccer team lost to Forest View Sept. 23 by a score of 5‑1. Kevin Martin scored first for Maine West a couple of minutes into the game. At the end of the half the score was tied at 1‑1. Forest View then proceeded to score four goals in the second half and made no contest out of the game.
On Sept. 26 the Warriors went up against a tough Evanston squad and were shut out by a score of 5‑0. By the end of the first quarter West was down 2‑0 and was never really in the game.
Libertyville proved to be an easier opponent as the West kickers were victorious, 2-0. Mike Perez scored on a breakaway in the first quarter, and Jeff McGlone scored on a penalty shot off

the post in the last quarter. An outstanding performance was turned in by junior goalie Todd Wielgos.
The Warriors lost a heartbreaker to Deerfield last Saturday by a score of 3‑2. West's goals were scored by Bill Schutz and Jeff McGlone. The varsity team's record this year is 4‑4.
The sophomores were shut out by Evanston, 2‑0. On Sept. 29 the Warriors were defeated by Libertyville in a close 3‑1 score. The lone goal for West was scored by John Brennan in the last quarter. Goalie Hudak let up only one goal against a strong Deerfield squad but that was all they needed to edge by the Warriors 1‑0. The sophomores, record now stands at 1‑6‑1.
