Student Council Corner
Homecoming Is a Hit

BY SUE WOLINSKI

This year's Homecoming entitled, "The Wondrous World of Disney," proved to be another successful one. Plagued by Mother Nature, the parade and pep assembly scheduled for Oct. 12 had to be cancelled. This had been a first for many of the Student Council members if not all. One cannot describe the feeling that goes through your mind when you are told that all those activities you've been planning since last April will be postponed. But Student Council still goes on.

People were called and plans were made. So for many, the excitement of Homecoming had to be delayed another day. On Friday, Oct. 13, the weather seemed perfect; and the Student Council officers had a feeling of relief. We had to try to make Homecoming an enjoyable time for all no matter what happened.

So on Friday the pep rally was held eighth period in the stadium, with the Senior Class winning a majority of the competition. They were victorious in the VW push, Slowest Bike Race, and "Quack of the Year," with Rich Bistany proving to be the winning quack. While the Junior Class captured first place in float building, the Sophomore Class obtained the spirit jug for the second time this year. Our freshmen proved to be powerful by winning the tug‑of‑war.

The award for car decorating went to Artists Unlimited, and the window decorating went to Swim Guard. A special thanks to A.V. for showing the Walt Disney films on Oct. 10 and 11.

Homecoming '78 was a success. Student Council is now working on the Donkey Basketball game. We would also like to thank everyone who was involved in Homecoming for their help and cooperation. We couldn't have done it without you.
