The boys' and girls' varsity cross country teams completed their seasons successfully by capturing second place in the conferences. The boys' season's record was 12‑1, and the girls' record was 5‑0‑1.
The sophomore boys' team ended a great season as conference champs with a record of 13‑0. The boys' freshman team ended their season with a 12‑1 record which placed them second in the conference.
On Oct. 14 at the Wheeling Invitational the Warrior's varsity team finished first, with the sophomores and freshmen finishing second. The girl harriers finished seventh. Highlighting the Waukegan East race was a first place finish by Dave Ahlman for the varsity, Ed Johnson for the freshman, and Lory Tonske for the girls' race.

On Oct. 17 the Warriors competed against Maine East and Glenbrook South. The Demons won both meets. Jukka Kallio finished fourth and Kent Towler finished fifth for West.
At the conference meet Oct. 21, Jukka Kallio took third place; Bob Fisher finished fourth; Kent Towler finished eleventh; and Mike Schatel finished seventeenth. Top scorers were Jerry Kleiner and Ron Nansteil who finished third and fourth in the sophomore race. For the freshmen Kurt Danielson was conference champion; Chris Walsh finished second; and Herb Vogt finished sixth.
In the girls' race Lory Tonske finished second and Karen George fifth. Also in the girls' race Nancy Loewenherz finished eleventh. On the junior varsity level Dwight Bohne finished second, Valenta Garza finished fifth, and Rich Spencer finished sixth.
