Spikers Down New Trier

The Maine West girls' volleyball team played Prospect on Saturday, Oct. 21, and the outcome was varsity 2‑0, JV 2‑0; and the freshman lost 1‑2. On Oct. 18, Maine West won over Glenbrook South. The scores were varsity 2‑1, JV 2‑0, and freshman 2‑0.

Oct. 13 had the volleyball team at New Trier East for perhaps the "toughest match" of the season. The varsity and JV won 2‑1 and 2‑0 respectively. On Oct. 10, the Warriors hosted Maine North and were victorious. The varsity won 2‑0, JV 2‑0, and freshman 2‑1.

The above matches are typical of the season the volleyball team is having this year. So far the records stand at varsity 14-2, not having lost a game since the first week of the season. The JV is undefeated, and the freshman team is 1-0 in conference. The Warriors next

conference match will be against Waukegan East on Nov. 26.

The Warriors' records will be challenged when Maine West starts competing in the state championship matches. Maine West will host the District Tournament on Nov. 28, 29, and 30. The four Maine Township schools, Chicago Resurection, and Elk Grove will all compete in "a tough District tournament" according to Coach Royleen

Miss Tipton also states that "Prospect, Glenbrook North, and Maine South are all strong teams." Maine West has never faced these teams in a tournament. All home games start at 4 p.m. for the JV and 6:30 for the varsity team.
