LATIN PROGRAM GROWING AT MAINE WEST
Maine West has the most students enrolled in Latin in the Maine Township School District. According to Mr. Robert Curtis, the Latin teacher, "A strong Latin program has always been an indication of a truly outstanding high school." Four years of Latin will be offered again next year. An indication of the courses' importance is obvious. Studies have concluded that Latin students place much higher on achievement tests such as the S.A.T. test than do non‑Latin students.
