Snow Storm Delays Season
For Gymnasts

The Maine West gymnastics team has had no chance to really compete in the start of the new year. Most of the meets were cancelled because of the snow storm that swept the city on Sunday, Jan. 10.

A total of five meets were cancelled. Among those were the meets on Friday, Jan. 12, against Niles West; Saturday, Jan. 13, against Palatine; a home game, Tuesday, Jan. 16, against Wheeling; New Trier East on Friday, Jan. 19; and Saturday, Jan. 20 against Maine South. Some effort will be made to try to reschedule these meets.

Without these meets the team may not have enough of a record to participate in the CSL Division South on Wednesday, Jan. 24. Also, they may not be able to be in these meets because the finals have been rescheduled for that week.

On Jan. 31, Feb. 1, 2, 3, the IHSA districts were held. Because of a cancelled issue, the Westerner will publish the results of the IHSA Districts in the Mar. 2 issue. If the teams are able to make up the meets they missed, they may be able to go down state for the finals.
