Swim Teams Going Strong

This year's girls' swim team is still going strong. On Dec. 14 the girls met Waukegan East. The varsity was victorious by a score of 46‑37, but the JV was defeated by a score of 28‑55.

On Dec. 19 the team went against Niles East. The varsity won by the score of 121‑31, and the JV won by the score of 118‑26. From there, the team went on to crush Maine East. The varsity won by the score of 103‑69, and J.V. was victorious by the score of 99‑50.

On Jan. 19 the team met a tough Glenbrook North. The varsity was defeated by the score of 59-113, and JV was also defeated by the score of 66-79.

Despite the defeat, some team members turned in excellent performances. On the varsity level Dawn Ericksen took first place in the 100-yard fly; on JV level Chris Staff took first place in the 50-yard breast stroke; and Linda Reppert took first place in the 200-yard free style. Also, the JV team, consisting of Linda Reppert, Deb Robbins, Karen Sherkey, and Cindy Koerber took first place in the 400 free relay.

On Jan. 13 the team was scheduled to participate in the Cowgirl Relays at New Trier West, but that competition was postponed until Jan. 29. At the present time, the team is getting ready for the district and state meets. Team coach Mrs. Peggy Mitchell stated that "Everyone has been working very hard this season, and the effort should pay off in the next few weeks."
