'Fiddler on the Roof Nears Production

Rehearsals for this year's musical production, Fiddler on the Roof, are under way. The Maine West Music Department will present the musical on Mar. 15, 16, and 17 at 8 p.m. A matinee will be held 4 p.m. on Mar. 14.

Ms. Carla Oleck Skiba is in charge of the musical this year. Ms. Skiba taught English here at Maine West last year. She left to perform professionally. She has had the lead in Hello Dolly and appreaed in Mame at the Candlelight Theater. Miss Sue Colliander and Mr. Robert Pelikan are in charge of the sets.

Fiddler on the Roof was chosen by the Music Department to give the performers a culturally different type of play to present. The department tries to pick a variety of different types of musicals to present. Mr. Robert Kuite, head of the Music Department feels "Fiddler on the Roof is one of the best musicals on the market."

Tevye will be played by Marty Pazdioch '80. Janice Johnson '79 will play Tevye's wife. Kathy Bashem '79, Kristin King '80, and Yvonne Pytlik '79 play Tevye's daughters.

Other cast members include Karl Dahlstrom '80, Paul Dombrowski '80, Mark Halverson '80, Eddie Johnson '81, Jeanette King '81, Maureen O'Malley '80, Donna Pluciennik '79, Mike Stein '81, and Mike Weber '79.

Chorus members for the musical include seniors Dave Ahlman, Sheila Nelson, Laura Paulin, Merilyn Sauer, and Janet Schult. Junior chorus members are Archana Lal, Robert Morava, Joyce Nitz, and Eileen Terry. Sophomores include Marcie Bakker, Steve Lipar, and Rob Pascolini. Freshmen are Jerome Fitzgerald, Amy Stoneburner, and Kerm Towler.

Michele Henrickson '80, Debbie Preiss '80, Carol Schneider '80, Eileen Tolstad '79, and Mary Tomaselli '80 were selected to perform as the dancers in the musical.

Tickets for the musical are now on sale in the bookstore for $3.50 a seat. The best seats will be sold first, on a first comefirst served basis. Tickets will also be sold at the door.
