The Girl's Choice Dance is only a matter of days away, and for the past two weeks many girls have been asking guys if they would be willing to go. This is not always easy for the girls. Let me show you what I mean.
There is a guy in one of my classes whom I've liked for most of the year. We sit by each other and he talks to me, but that's as far as it goes. I thought the dance would be the perfect chance to get to know him. He shall be referred to as "Ludlow."
Every night before bed I've tried to psyche myself up to ask him. It usually runs like this "All right, you're going to ask Ludlow to that dance tomorrow. If you do not follow through, no more french fries at lunch."

Something has come up almost every day to prevent me from asking him. While I chomp on my french fries at lunch, I think of how dumb it was that we had a test, an in‑class theme, Ludlow came late to class, the teacher decided to lecture, and I couldn't ask him.
I'll admit it; one time I almost asked Ludlow. I goofed it up totally. He was in the LRC checking out a book. I was working behind the check‑out counter. I got "Are you..." but couldn't go through with it. I ended up saying, "Are you going to be needing that book for more than one night?" He gave me a strange look. I felt totally stupid.
I'm not worried, though. I've got another week to ask Ludlow, hopefully.
