Have you ever noticed where all the people are on Friday nights? If you're thinking of a basketball game or at home watching Donny and Marie, guess again. Most people are usually "rolling at the Axle." If you don't believe me, why don't you go on down there and find out for yourself? Here, let me give you some help to explain what you'll see when you get there.
The first thing to do is to find a group with which to go. Somehow it's better to go with a group; don't ask me why because I'm not that sure myself. The ride there isn't too bad if you like to sit in a car with someone's foot in your ear. The thing to do is to leave early enough, in order to get in line so the wait to get in won't be so long. When you finally get there, don't give up hope that you'll never get in. Just because the line is all ready half way around the building, one should never throw in the towel.
After you've paid you're stuck there for the rest of the night, so you've got to make the best of it. Now, you may not be so sure what to do first, so if I were you, I'd follow the crowd over to the long line to get your skates. First, take

off your shoes so you won't look like you don't know what you're doing. While you're standing there dying of the heat because you've still got on your long winter coat, pray that when you get your skates they'll fit and the wheels will turn without the help of your fingers. Also pray that when you return your skates, you won't end up with the wrong pair of shoes.
By this time you've had a chance to put away your coat and check your skates. Now it's time to go out to the rink. "Hey, this ain't so bad out here," you say to yourself as you are about the only one out on the floor with the lights on and no music going. "I wonder where all the people are?" No sooner said than done, the lights go down and the music goes up, and in a matter of five seconds the place is mobbed by about a 100 different skaters. Now your question is answered. I doubt that you'd disagree with me when I told you that this is where all the people are. I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so.
Hopefully, this will help to prepare you when you go "rolling at the Axle." If not, I hope you can make it through the night!
