On Jan. 12 Maine West varsity wrestlers took on Niles West and won by an overwhelming score of 45‑8. Pinners were Jerry Chuatal, 138; Vince Lombardo, 167; Rick Spencer, 105; and Sulo Wainio, 112.
The Maine West tournament was held on Jan. 13. Paul Romano was the solo champion at 138. Taking second were Jerry Chuatal, 132; Randy Vidl, 155; and Sulo Wainio, 112.
Maine South was challenged by the Varsity Wrestlers on Jan. 26. West won by a commanding score of 44‑14. Varsity pinners were Dave Detzner, 98; Jeff Maxwell, 132; Jerry Chuatal, 138; Vince Lombardo, 167; and Tony Cavazos, 185.
Jan. 27 brought the Warriors to Highland Park for a close loss, the score being 32‑30. Sulo Wainio, 112; Kevin Fang, 145; and Tony Cavazos, 185, were Warrior pinners.
On Feb. 1 the matmen lost another close battle at Glenbrook South. The score for this meet was 25‑23. Heavyweight Rick Schulte was the only West pinner.
Maine West wrestled Maine East on Feb. 2 and were totally dominated by the Demons, 41‑25. Jerry Chautal, 132, and Tony Cavazos, 185, were the only Warrior pinners.
J.V. I wrestled Niles West on Jan. 12 and won by a large margin. The final score was 50-10. Pinners were Hugh Hawkins, 98; Dennis Klaver, 112; Valente Garza, 138; Frank Baute, 155; Ron Neibow, 167; and Tim Rapinchuck, 185. J.V. II also wrestled Niles West on Jan. 12, winning by an unbelievable score of 61-6. Forfeits played a large part in this meet. The pinners for West were Ron Curtis, 98; Al Kosinski, 138; and Steve Hilliard, 145.

On Jan. 26, the JV I Warriors wrestled Maine South and won by a score of 53‑14. J. V. II also won with a score of 57‑9.
Highland Park was the next J.V. I challenge. The Warriors won here also; this score was 39-22. Highland Park forfeited at the J. V. II level. Pinners were Jeff Maxwell, 132; Paul Romano, 145; and Brian Opfer, 155.
J.V. II challenged Maine East at West on Feb. 2 and won by a score of 32-30. Pinners were Rick Fang, 119; Jeff Maxwell, 132; Valente Garza, 138; Brian Opfer, 145; and Ron Neibow, 155. J. V. II also won this time; the score was 42-29. Pinners were Kevin Murray, 132 and Al Kosinski, 138.
The freshman Warriors wrestled Niles West at Maine West and won 46‑19. Pinners were Jack Arrigo, 90; Dave Klaver, 105; Bob Sharbaugh, 112; Tim O'Brein, 185; and Zane Nania, heavyweight.
Maine South was challenged by West here. West won, 41‑36. Pinners were Jack Arrigo, 90; Dave Freemen, 98; and Rick White, 119. Jan. 27 brought West against Highland Park. The Warriors lost by a score of 39‑28.
Maine West wrestled Glenbrook South on Feb. 1 and won by a score of 58‑16. The Warriors wrestled Maine East on Feb. 2 and won again. This time the score was 59‑6.
