Project BIG Set for April

District 207's tenth annual career night Project BIG will be held Wednesday evening, April 18, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Maine South in Park Ridge. This unequaled career education program is a cooperative effort between local business, industry, and our schools.

Project BIG is designed specifically to encourage young people to learn more about careers in which they are currently interested and also to explore new ones by talking directly with people who are employed in such occupations within our communities. The over 175 careers represented this year will be in trade, technical, business, scientific, and professional occupations.

The program will be held in the Maine South spectator gym and student cafeteria. The physical facilities will be arranged in convention style with career representatives seated behind rows of tables. Each table is identified by a suspended job title sign and number. Students and parents receive a program which lists the occupations (alphabetically) with corresponding table numbers and names of representatives which allows those attending to shop and browse or go directly to an occupation in which they are interested.

Career representatives talk with students on a one‑to‑one basis and are not required to give a formal presentation.

This year nearly 3,500 students and parents are expected to attend.
