Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor:

The Distributive Education Club members would like to express their deep appreciation and thanks to everyone who participated in the production and operation of the Winter Jam. The event was well attended, well supervised, and enjoyed by a large majority of the people.

Mr. Elwood Hughes, DECA coordinator, sent the following letter to Mr. Burk following the concert.

"I feel that the event went very well and many valuable things were learned by the DECA members and the students that helped produce it. The necessity for organization, commitments to certain tasks and responsibility for follow through were valuable learning experiences for all participating. I would like to commend all DECA students for their hard work and sense of responsibility in sponsoring this activity.

"The bands expressed an appreciation for the opportunity to perform. They were quite excited about this activity and prepared a program that the crowd enjoyed.

"I feel that the overall behavior of the students attending was excellent. The event was well supervised with very capable people. I would particularly like to recognize Mr. Raymond Ross, Mr. Ralph Murdy, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Giovaninni, Mr. David Grobe, and Mr. Steven Holmbeck. They did an excellent job in handling a few incidents that normally arise in a crowd of students. Approximately 800 students attended this function."

I think that this letter expresses an overall feeling the DECA members share. However, the DECA members would like to express their thanks to Mr. Hughes for all the time and hard work he gave to make Winter Jam a great success.
