Spring Vacation: What To Do

BY MIKE ZIENTARA

Spring vacation is just around the corner, and many of the Maine West students will be going on trips. However, some of us will get the privilege of staying right here in Des Plaines and being able to enjoy the beautiful Des Flames scenery and the great Des Plaines weather.

These people will not have to go to California, Florida, or Hawaii and sit in the hot sun and swim in the shark infested ocean. Instead, they will enjoy the last surge of winter weather in Des Plaines and will be able to sit in their houses looking out the window and watching the snow melt or the robins come back from the South.

The people who will remain in Des Plaines will get a chance to help Mom start spring cleaning. Dad will surely need help putting the shovels and sleds away for the summer or painting the rooms or cleaning the garage. Those who go on trips won't get any of this pleasure and will probably just sit around in the blazing sun or go swimming or go touring through the important parts of town, like Disney World. The won't be able to enjoy Mom's home cooking every day of spring break. Instead, they'll probably get all dressed up and go to some expensive restaurant and eat all kinds of expensive food and will have to practice their good manners at the table.

Those people who are going on trips should try their hardest to have a good time in the hot sun and the humid climate. And those people who remain in Des Plaines, don't party too much, but remember the poor people on trips and do a little extra for them.
