The Warrior basketball team finished the regular season with a win and a loss in addition to losing their opening regional game. This brought the cager's final record to 7‑18.
The Maine battle pitting East against West saw the Warriors never quite being in contention as East emerged victorious, 77‑57. The Demons jumped to an early lead and held on throughout the game with their own Bob Webber scoring a game high 29 points. Jim Schultz led West with 18. The team fared much better against the Niles West squad. It was Maine's turn to dominate the game as they emerged victorious, 86‑54.
In a well‑balanced attack four Warrior players scored in double figures. Tim Richardson led with 20 points; Jim Lindeman had 15; Craig Gustaffson hit 12; and Kent Heiden scored 11 points. The team was never seriously challenged as they were leading, 43‑16, at half, and the opponents never drew closer than 18 points in the second half.

The cagers then moved on to regional play only to meet a tough Elk Grove team immediately. Although playing well and leading 22‑20 at the half, the Warriors slipped to this aggressive team and lost, 69‑54. Gustaffson showed great leadership in the loss. Schult led West with 15 points while Gustaffson hit 12 and Chip Holler scored 10.
Season statistics showed Richardson leading all scorers with 339 points and a 13.5 per game scoring average.
Next came Schultz with 313 and a 12.5 average and Gustaffson with a 242 total netting 9.6 a game. Schultz led the shooting percentage hitting 65 per cent from the floor and also led rebounders with a 260 total. Heiden hit 75 per cent from the free throw line to lead the team. Holler nabbed 108 rebounds to be next to the leader in that category. Tim Richardson was named to the post season all‑conference team with Jim Schultz receiving an honorable mention to the same team.
