The Maine West girls' basketball season has drawn to a close. The varsity finished with a record of 7 wins and 10 losses, while the junior varsity ended up with 2 wins and 15 losses.

On Mar. 12 the varsity team lost to Arlington Heights in tournament play by a score of 59‑40. The leading scorers in the game were Debby Meinke with 12 points and Donna Logisz with 16 points. Varsity coach, Mr. Les Jannusch, commented on the game, "We played a good first half, but we got behind in the third quarter and couldn't catch up."

The varsity team this year was made up of Lori Cole, Doreen DeRosa, Margie Horjes, Debbie Lindeman, Donna Logisz, Debby Meinke, Bev Schick, Jeanne Tortorelli, and Wendy Winkleman.

Coach Jannusch summed up the year by saying, "We had a fairly young team, and we improved as the season went on. The last couple of weeks we played good basketball. It was a good finish."

The junior varsity players this year were Lori Bitter, Kim Bobek, Julie Degreiner, Diane Grooms, Heide Jung, Lynn Kuhlman, Debbie Molinaro, Nancy Monahan, Betty Olen, Kathy McCabe, Deanne Richmeier, Kim Stryker, Karen Sherwood, Carol Stube, and Kathy Waters.

JV coach, Ms. Helaine Cohen, commented on the season, "We're ahead of last year. Next year we'll be tops."
