This year's annual Avenues of the Arts exhibit will be open to the public on Friday, May 4, 1979. This all‑school exhibit will be open from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. All areas of the school curriculum will be represented, offering something for everyone. Visitors may choose from a rainbow of colors.
Avenue Red, for instance, located in the Maine West cafeteria, will be the site of a variety of presentations. Professional sculptors, Messrs. Joseph and Alfred Burlini, will be present. Maine West students will offer demonstrations and exhibits of work in drawing, sculpting, weaving, ceramics, printmaking, painting, and crafts. The Home Economics Department will present displays pertaining to foods, clothing, quilts, creative stitchery, nutrition, and flower arranging. While the Science Department offers continuous demonstrations from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., the Social Science Department will host a simulation game and trace family origins. For the discerning buyer, there will be an art sale conducted by Artist Unlimited.
Avenue Orange will feature the Art Department. Here the visitor may examine displays in all exhibit cases and hallway display panels as well as all the art rooms.
A walk along Avenue Yellow will be enhanced by the sound of music, for here, on the second floor of E‑wing, music students will present solo and ensemble recitals.
Avenue Blue, the pool area, will feature a synchronized swimming show at 8:30 p.m., the contribution of the Physical Education Department. Avenue Green, on the other hand, will feature tumbling and vaulting displays in the A-wing

gymnasium as another representation of Physical Education Department. In addition, the Business Education Department will present displays from data processing and computer science. These displays, along with a film on careers in business, will be seen in Avenue Green, first floor A-wing.
Second floor A‑wing, Avenue Gold, features slide presentations from the Language Department. A walk along this avenue will take the visitor to France, South America, Spain, Mexico, and Germany.
Avenue Brown, L‑101, will be the location for the Home Economics Fashion Show at 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. as well as the Speech/Drama Department's Reader's Theater presentation at 9 p.m.
The Driver Education Department will use Avenue White, first floor C‑wing, where the audience is invited to use the simulators. Meanwhile, at 8 p.m. in Avenue Pink, the auditorium, the Physical Education Department will feature the Orchesis Dance Show.
Displays and student demonstrations from the Industrial Arts Department may be seen along Avenue Purple, of D‑wing. All the Industrial Arts rooms will be open for display with exhibits ranging from printing to woodworking to electronics to metals.
Avenue Black, the main entrance of the Rotunda, will feature a display of information from the Guidance Department.
R‑209 will be the scene for two very different activities. At 8 p.m., the English Department will host a poetry reading, while at 9 p.m., the Social Science Department will conduct a simulated trial.
