Dear Editor:
Recently I accompanied 45 of my psychology students on a field trip to the Circuit Court in Chicago to observe pretrial and post‑decree motions, as well as trials in the divorce courts On our return, I commended the students personally for their fine conduct, but I wanted to mention this publicly.
Individually and collectively, they were outstanding on the trip. No one was late for any of the scheduled appointments. They asked intelligent, perceptive questions. We were received very graciously by the judges and invited to come to the bench and into their chambers; and throughout the day the

students were poised and pleasant and conducted themselves in a very mature manner. Not only was each a credit to himself, but I feel that as a group the students were creditable representatives of the school, since everywhere we went we were identified as "Maine West."
Many times I know I criticize them and may even "nag" them. It's a well-worn story that we hear much about "problem teens," but often give little recognition to those who are exemplary adolescents. I want to recognize this group; I do appreciate them as fine, responsible young adults.
