Class of '79 Remembers Past
Four Years

BY KIM KLECKNER AND JOANNE DENK

With a little over a month to go 800 seniors will graduate from their beloved Maine West. Just four short years ago they were in the same place as the freshman are today. During those four years the Class of '79 has encountered many different experiences.

As freshmen we could barely see over the seniors' knees. We thought that once we were seniors we would have it made.

Along with being an upper classman we thought that being a senior would automatically make our social life reach its peak. First, there would be parties, then more parties, then finally even more parties.

Life for the average freshman boy wasn't so great: I mean, who could he date? His junior high sweetheart? As he got to be a senior, this would improve; but for the senior girls this wouldn't be so great for them. They would be the oldest girls in school, so who could they date?

Once we got to be sophomores we thought we were a little cooler because after our grueling first year in high school, there was someone younger than we. But the junior year, what a great year‑ we could drive. Now we didn't have to walk everywhere we went or have Mom drive us to a game or party. We would think, "Only one more year 'til we were seniors." We got to be friends with the older people and think that we were something really special.

Finally our dream came true, we are seniors! But now that we are seniors, is it all what it's cracked up to be?
