The winner of this year's Faces in History contest was Michelle Hendrickson '80. The Faces in History contest is an annual event held by Maine West's history club, Tri‑S
This year the theme for the contest was The International Year of the Child. Starting on Mar. 9, the pictures of 70 well known people were posted in the showcase outside of the library. In keeping with this year's theme, all of the pictures featured people in their younger years.

To participate in the contest, students were asked to pick up forms from their Social Science teachers and write down the names of all the people they could identify. They had until Mar. 20 to turn their entries back into their teachers.
The people included in the contest ranged from old favorites like Shirley Temple and Clark Gable to Olympic stars like Dorothy Hammil, Olga Korbet, and even Nadia. If you took an even closer look, you'd find some of Maine West's staff members. Among them were Mr. Eldon Burk, Mr. James Coburn, Mr. Robert Cochrane, Mr. John Graef, Ms. Karen Kenyon, and Mr. Robert Kuite.
