Freshman Cheerleaders Elected For 1980-1981 Sports Season
The Maine West Freshman Cheerleaders were chosen for the 1980-1981 seasons. The auditions were held on Sept. 4.

Clinics were held on Sept. 2 and 3. At these clinics the girls learned the cheers and the fundamentals of a good performance.

At the tryouts, the girls were judged on the basis of their performance of one floor cheer, one sideline cheer, two jumps, and		 one gymnastic stunt. "In addition, points were scored for voice and appearance," according to the squad's sponsor, Miss Diane DiVito.

The eight cheerleaders who were chosen are Lisa Whitney, Natalie Reda, Georgine Panoutsos, Kim Rems, Tina Pasternak, Sandy Novak, Peggy Schmit, and Debbie Schoen. These girls will be representing Maine West's school spirit at the freshman football, soccer, and basketball games.
