Chess Team Participates Downstate |

| This was the first year that the Maine West Chess Team has gone downstate. Out of the seven boards the team played, they won two and lost four. In the tournament, Sal Jimenez '81, playing second board, also won two and lost four. John Ryan '84 played third board, winning three and losing three. who played fifth board, won seven and lost five. Dan Bishop '83, sixth board, won two, lost four, and Steve Hegele '82, seventh board, won four and lost two. Out of the seven team members, five will be returning next year. Mr. Ken Lindquist, Chess Team sponsor, said, "I have great hopes for the future of the Chess Team, and I am planning on more tournaments next year." |
