Girls' Badminton Comes In Third

The badminton team participated in an annual tn-meet with Prospect and Oak Park at Prospect on May 1. The varsity team placed third out of the three schools.

The Warriors had a hard time topping their strong opponents. The only undefeated team for the Warriors was the doubles team of Aurora Zurlo and Denise Dzik. Vivien Eschenbach and Kris Kuchel defeated their Prospect match-up along with singles player Ardis Rhines.
The JV team tied for first place with Oak Park. Singles players Karen Harris, Dianne Davis, and Kris Hansen were all victorious. The doubles teams of Karen Dalka and Lyn Given and Natalie Reda and Peggy Shelven also finished the meet as winners.

On May 2 four doubles teams and three singles players were sent to participate in the Arlington Invitational. In the first singles division, Deb Wilhelm finished with a record of 1-4 as she defeated Wheaton North in two games 11-7 and 11-5. Rhines, also a singles player, finished with a 3-2 total score: she defeated Wheaton North 11-7 and 11-4; Shepard 11-0 and 11-0; and New Trier 11-2, 7-11, and 11-4.
