West Graduates Prepare For Baccalaureate

Baccalaureate services for the Maine West graduating class of 1981 will be held on Sunday, June 7 at 3 p.m. in the Herman L. Rider Memorial Gymnasium. The Baccalaureate is a traditionally sacred ceremony which invokes God's blessings on the graduating class.

As the class enters, the Baccalaureate Band, conducted by Mr. Paul E. Magnusson, will perform "Pomp and Circumstance" (Elgar) and "Grand March" (Grundman).

The invocation will be given by Julie Calabrese, treasurer of the senior class. James Teevans, vicepresident of the senior class, will then present a Scripture reading.
Anthems will be offered by the Baccalaureate Concert Choir, under the direction of Mr. Donald Lord. The choir will perform "The Last Words of David" (Thompson), accompanied by Bonnie Scheurman '82, and "The Sun Declines" (Matthews).

Following the choir will will be a meditation by the Reverend James W. Jackson of Christ Church of Des Plaines. The hymn, "God of Our Fathers" (Roberts-Warren), will follow the meditation.

Finally, the benediction will be given by Linda M. Sejud, secretary of the senior class.

The recessional march will be accompanied by "University Grand March" (Goldman) and "March of the Peers" (Sullivan), as performed by the Baccalaureate Band.
