Class of 1981 Commencement To Be Held Tuesday |

| The Twenty-Second Annual Commencement Exercises, those of the graduating class of 1981, will be presented at Maine West on Tuesday, June 9, 1981. The event will take place at 7 p.m. in the Herman L. Rider Memorial Gymnasium. Following a fanfare by the Commencement Band under the direction of Mr. Paul E. Magnusson, the Class of 1981 will enter in the traditional processional march. The band will accompany the march with "Pomp and Circumstance" (Elgar) and "Grand March" (Grundman). This will be followed by the presentation of the colors by the color guard and the National Anthem by the Commencement Band. The invocation will be given by Dr. Wayne C. Weld, Assosicate Professor of Missions at North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago. Principal James L. Coburn will proceed with the presentation of the Retirement Award. This award will be received by Mr. Robert E. Cochrane, Chairman of the Industrial Education Department. Following this will be the presentation of gifts for twenty-five years of service rendered at Maine. Mr. Coburn will |
present watches to Mr. Fred M. Bencriscutto, Dean of Students; Mr. Richard E. Carlini, Physical Education Chairman; Mr. Sidney C. Drain, Business Education teacher; and Mr. Victor A. Giovannini, Driver Education Chairman. Mr. Coburn will then introduce the senior class president, Kathleen M. Dsida. She will deliver the welcome address and introduce the Maine Scholars. Each of the two Maine Scholars will then present a Commencement Address. Next, the graduating class will sing the "Maine West Alma Mater." The class will be presented by Dr. John T. Benka, Assistant Superintendent-General Administration and Personnel for District 207. The class will he accepted by Mrs. Charlotte E. Storer, President of the Board of Education. The diplomas will be presented by Mrs. Anne H. Evans and Mrs. Storer. The graduates' names will be announced by Mr. James Killam and Mr. Ronald Mills. The recessional march will conclude the ceremony. The Commencement Band will then perform "University Grand March" (Goldman) and "March of the Peers" (Sullivan). |
