Homecoming Week To Bring Days of 'Wild, Wild West' |
||||||||||
| Homecoming 1980 begins Tuesday, Oct. 14, for Maine West students and faculty. This year's theme is "Wild Wild West" and features many new and old Homecoming festivities. Continuing through Thursday, Oct. 16, will be Maine West's first "Sexy Legs Contest." Each student can vote by placing a penny in one of the five boxes in the cafeteria that belongs to the person they think has the sexiest legs. The pairs of legs come from each of the four fall sports, as well as one coach. Also in the cafeteria will be a cowboy. Each student can purchase color coded band-aids in the bookstore for $.05 which indicate their class when they stick it on the cowboy. This is not only a contest between classes, but the cowboy also represents how the football team hopes the New Trier West Cowboys will look after the game on Friday. |
Thursday students can go wild and dress like the old west. Friday afternoon students will be dismissed early from class to go to the Pep Assembly in the stadium where the Maine West Band will perform, the cheerleading and porn pon squads will perform, and the queen and king will be announced. The parade steps off through town at 4 p.m. with the games starting at 6:30 for the J.V. and 8 for the varsity. Between games the parade will circle the football field. Finishing the Homecoming week on Saturday is the dance, "Off into the Sunset," from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. in the auditorium. |
