Thespians To Present |
||||||||||
| On the evenings of Oct. 24 and 25, the Maine West Thespians will present the dramatic play, The Diary of Anne Frank. Although this play takes place in Holland, it concerns the welfare of the Jewish people of that time as they struggled to keep their race alive through the terrible Holocaust that Adolph Hitler had inflicted upon all Jews then living in Eastern Europe. The director of this play, Mr. Daryl Schultz says, "Anne was living out what should have been the best years of her adolescent life: yet because of the difficult restrictions placed on all Jews, she was not even aware of life on the outside of their one room hiding space. |
If it had not been for Otto Frank finding his daughter's diary at the end of the war, the people of the United States and abroad, would never have known of some of the terrible afflictions imposed upon the Jewish people during this time. In the two performances pre-sented by the Maine West Thespians, the role of Anne is played by Catherine Jordan '82. Mike Bashem '81 assumes the role of Otto Frank with Lisa Ochal '82 as his wife, and Suzanne Kadlec '80 as his older daughter, Margot. Jim Teevans '81 has the role of Mr. Van Daan, with Laura Fisher '81 in the role of Mrs. Van Daan, and Greg Bopp '82 taking on the role of Peter, their son. Miep is played by Pam Peca '81, with Dave Ratner '82 playing Mr. Dussel and Dan Johnson '84 assuming the role of Mr. Kraler. |
