Soccer Captures First Place With 3-0 Record

The soccer team is in first place. The varsity team has a 3-0 conference score. Their third conference game was played against Glenbrook South on Oct. 3. The sophomore level won, 3-1.

Dan Wrona scored all three goals 2 on penalty kicks; 1, on a bicycle kick. Jim Latson assisted one of Wrona's goals. The varsity also won by a final score of 3-2. Ken Wrona scored two goals while Ken Fillipp scored one.

On Sept. 30 against Evanston, the varsity lost, 5-0. The sophomore team, however, won 3-1. Goals were made by Latson (who scored two) and Glenn Thomas.
Assists were by Dan Wrona, Rob Olson, and Bruce Wywialowski.

Maine West hosted its game against Waukegan East on Sept. 26. The varsity won, 2-1. Kevin McCarthy and Brian Weld scored the two goals with an assist from Fillipp. The sophomores lost 2-1; the solitary goal was made by Dan Wrona.

The varsity team was again victo-rious against Highland Park on Sept. 18 with a score of 5-4. Goals were made by Fillipp (scored two), Mike Chiropolis (scored two), and Weld. Assists were made by Ken Wrona and Weld. The sophomores lost, 3-0.
