Soccer Team Looking For Conference Title

The past two weeks have been pretty busy for our Warriors. The varsity soccer team is tied with the Maine East Demons for first place in conference.

On Oct. 7 the varsity soccer team lost to a very tough Deerfield team in a non-conference game. The final score was 5-2. Maine West's only two goals were scored by Ken Wrona and Brian Weld.

On Saturday, Oct. 11, the Warriors met their conference rivals, the Maine East Demons. In a hard fought battle the Warriors tied the Demons, 1-1. The lone Warriors played another tough team, Niles West. The Warriors were held scoreless in a 5-0 defeat.

Tonight the varsity soccer team will meet Glenbrook North at home. If the Warriors win they will then become co-conference cham-pions.
The Warriors are seeded second in the sub-sectionals which will begin next week.

In the past two weeks on the sophomore level, the Warriors were victorious against Maine East as our Warriors lost a tough game. Rebounding back from that loss, the sophomores had their own shutout against Niles West.

This year the sophomores are being helped by six freshmen, who have been moved up from the freshman team. As of now, the sophomore record stands at 6-6.

The freshmen did not have any luck these past two weeks having dropped their three games to three good teams from Deerfield, Maine East, and Niles West. All in all, the season has been very productive for our Maine West soccer teams.
