Art Dept. Students' Work Featured in New Display

This year for the first time at Maine West or at any other Maine Township school, the Art Department is giving special recognition to art students who have done outstanding art work. The display is called "Focus of the Week." "Focus of the Week" is located in the E wing corridor in the display case next to the art office. In addition to "Focus of the Week" the art student's work is displayed in numerous other display cases in E-wing.

The student's work is selected by the art faculty. Each work of art must express several standards before it can be displayed. It must show: growth in classroom performance, maturity for the grade level, creativeness in concept/idea and skills, and a high quality of craftmanship.
Any student enrolled in one of the art courses offered by the Art Department, Art I, II, III, IV, sketching, Design/Materials I, II, and Photography I, II, III, is eligible for this special recognition.

In addition to being on display each recipient receives a letter from Mr. James Coburn, principal, congratulating them on their achievement. "Focus of the Week" changes weekly honoring a different student and his or her work.
