Three weeks ago Maine West held the varsity conference meet. The team finished sixth. Heidi Eilken finsihed tenth and Deb Peters finished twelfth in the 200 free. Dawn Fabiszak finished eighth in diving. The next day the J.V. team broke six of the 10 J.V. records at their conference meet. Kara Zonnavetch placed second in the 50 breaststroke. Donna Carter took fifth in the 50 fly. The team finished fourth out of seven schools. |
At districts the girls took fifth place out of the 13 competing schools. In diving Fabiszak took fifth and qualified for the state meet. Eilken placed third and fourth in the 500 and 200 free respectively. Peters took fourth in the 500 free, and the free relay team of Kathy Kearns, Peters, Eilken, and Lisa Carter placed third. When asked how he felt about the season, Coach Scott Chovanec said, "It was rewarding for me, and I trust it was challenging for the girls with their good finish at districts." |
