Chess Players End Season
The Chess Team's season is almost at its close with all five of the regular matches completed and just the playoffs left. The matches are played on five boards.

The boards are ranked one through five. The winner of board one receives three points. The second, third, and fourth boards receive two points, and the fifth board receives one point.

In previous meets Maine West was victorious over Ridgewood, 9-1; Maine		 North, 6-4; and Niles West, 9-1. Maine West tied Niles North, 5-5, and were defeated by Evanston, 7-3.

Individual point scorers for Maine West were Sal Jimenez '81 with 8 points, Rudy Herter '81 with 8 points, Jim Roy '83 with 6 points, John Ryan '84 with 5 points, Samir Shyamani '81 with 3 points, and Dan Roeder '82 with 2 points.

The team will compete in the state championship in April regardless of the outcome of the playoffs.
