Girls' Basketball Team Currently Undefeated
A few weeks ago the Maine West girls' basketball teams had tryouts. The returning varsity players are Doreen DeRosa, Margie Horejs, Debbie Guetzloff, Jean Tortorelli, Donna Logisz, Debbie Lindeman, and Mary Just. New members to the varsity team are Sharon Wydra and Gina Pabst.

This year the girls' basketball team has two new coaches. Mr. Eugene Zuccarini is coaching varsity this year, and Ms. Leslie Gelander is the new freshman coach. Last year's freshman coach, Mr. Tony Soucek, moved to J.V. coaching this year.
 On Dec. 9 the varsity and J.V. played their first game against Deerfield. The varsity won by a wide margin of 48-33. The J.V. lost in overtime, 45-43. The freshmen didn't play.

Returning J.V. players are Betty Olen, Karyn Wall, and Christy Nelson. New J.V. players are Aurora Zurlo, Denise Dzik, Cindy Sherkey, Liz Spielman, Rose Biesiedzinski, Carol Grooms, Linda Fridley, Barb Sorenson, and Peggy George.
