Speech Team Comes Back To Victory
The Maine West Speech Team won its fifth tournament on Saturday, Jan. 10. The readers, speakers, and actors defeated 24 schools at the North Chicago Speech Tournament.

The first place winners at this meet were Lisa Ochal '82, in verse reading and Pam Peca '81, in prose reading. Catherine Jordan '82 was close behind, winning second place in prose. Also taking second were Andy McCune '82 in extemporaneous speaking and Laura Fisher '81 in dramatic interpretation.

The third place trophy winners were Lori Stein '81 in original comedy, Dave Ratner '82 in radio speaking, and Kathleen Brand '81 and Michael Stein '81 in humorous		 duet acting. Many team members were stricken with the flu, but Mr. Ron Mills and Mrs. Cynthia Schaulis, the team coaches, held them together for this victory.

On Saturday, Jan. 17, the Speech Team won its sixth victory in competition with 24 north suburban schools. The group interpretation consisting of Mike Bashem '81, Dave Ratner, Lori Stein, Lisa Marquette '81, and Kathleen Brand, placed first at this Forest View Tournament. Two actors, Dave Ratner and Michael Stein, won first place in dramatic duet acting. The team also took six second place trophies and five third place trophies at this meet.
