Second Semester Life Apt to Slow Students

Ever notice how time seems to slow down after first semester finals? With time slowing down, students have a tendency to slow down, too.

Perhaps the dreary February weather and the easiness of most teachers' assignments contribute to the average student's lack of drive. It's cold out; nobody cares about Shakespeare or Ben Franklin, and third quarter doesn't count, anyway. Right?

Wrong. While third quarter doesn't count as much as fourth quarter, it still contributes toward the second semester
grade. Material covered third quarter will be on the second semester final. It's easier to learn the material when it is presented rather than "cramming" the night before the exam.

Admittedly, it's hard to stay interested in school during the last part of winter, but extra-curricular activities are always available. Feb. 13, for example, is Secret Admirer's Day. Student Council also is making plans for a "Winterfest" for sometime in February. Of course, there's always the musical.

Don't let winter destroy interest in school. Stay active second semester!
